Day 1 (Weds): 5 mins working through dagger form and 1st master of dagger disarms with partner

Reflection: varied week working with spear, sword and buckler, dagger, and longsword. Happy to get in some sparring practice too. Hope to keep it up next week and also get around to shooting some videos.

Week 1: Intention Cutting and Thrusting

Day 1 (Weds): felt a bit peaky this week after getting my booster shot, but managed to work on the dagger master form from the dagger workshop and practice the plays of first master of dagger today.

Day 5 (Fri): medium practice

Day 3 (Weds): longsword class working on Meyer’s square cutting patterns

Day 4 (Thurs): reviewing 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th masters of dagger and practising 1st master of dagger plays

Day 2 (Tues): reviewed first five masters of dagger

Week 4: Dente al cinghiara

Plan: Aim to review the material from the Dagger Masters workshop this week, make it to a couple of classes, do the big practice (contingency short practice), and find time for some partner training.

Day 1 (Mon): range of motion exercises concentrating on back health.

Day 4: longsword class continuing to work on 18 poste progression, scholar’s assault and Marozzo’s two-handed sword assault.

Day 3 (Fri): attended class on Manciolino’s two sword assault

Day 2 (Thurs): worked on the Gioco Stretto Defense form today, focussing on consistency and accuracy of blade placement. Had to really slow down to improve control – also found practising in front of the mirror helped a lot.

Day 5 (Sat): online longsword class working on 18 poste progression, scholar’s assault and Marozzo’s two-handed sword assault

Day 4 (Fri): worked through parts 1-7 of the Marozzo sword and buckler assault and then did a sword and rotella online class

Day 2 (Weds): 10mins working on sottani and mezzani cuts

Topic: Posta longa and breve

Plan: Get back into things after two week trip to England. Complete the short, medium and big practices and aim to get in a couple of days of partner work and classes.

Reflection: good training week. Will mainly be offline for the next two weeks and I imagine training will decrease to about 5 mins per day but will try to keep something going. New Year’s resolution is to get back to the assessment videos!

Sidesword and buckler sounds good to me!
