I came to the masterclass after spending a couple years with a local club. I felt like I had no true understanding of the art of swordplay. My forms were limited, my free play abysmal, and I felt lost and unorganized. Swordplay masterclass was so well organized. It started from the basics and logically built a platform of knowledge and continued to build onto that. The instructor was very patient, and was able to describe and demonstrate each skill effectively to any learning speed. I feel much more organized and now have a platform to build on from now into the future. The community was very accepting and non-judgmental in their assistance.

The level one instructor intensive is a focused effort to share Devon’s mastery and the Academie Duello program as it relates to both rapier and longsword. I found myself pleasantly and thoroughly challenged, mentally and physically. The course filled in a lot of gaps in my current knowledge and technique and pointed me toward other material I need to research and train. I highly recommend this course!

This intensive is so valuable and well conducted that I unhesitatingly attended it again only six months after the first time, because I wanted to be sure I absorbed all of it. I highly recommend this Instructor Intensive to anyone who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the technical side of our art, and to anyone who wishes to learn how to learn (or how to teach) martial arts more effectively. It is a lot of good information and practice delivered in a welcoming environment full of integrity and martial authenticity. “Intensive” is an apt word in the course’s title.
