Fell behind this week because other projects came up, but did do some relevant reading on my off-days: Sloane Ms. 2530 – papers of the Masters of Defence of London, c.1540-1590.

Week 4: Countering the Grapple
Day 1 (Tues): short practice

Day 6 (Sun): big practice and videoed myself doing the gioco largo defence form for self-reflection. I think I need to focus more on breath regulation in the future. I attended a couple of classes this week, which was good, and have enjoyed mixing up sword and dagger grappling plays and working on two-sword cuts and thrusts.

Day 5 (Sat): longsword grappling class

Day 4 (Fri): two-sword class working on cutting transitions, between half cut and full cut etc.

Day 3 (Weds): hour of partner practice drilling 1st master, 1st scholar and 2nd scholar of grappling and 1st master, 1st scholar, 8th scholar and 10th scholar of dagger.

Day 1 (Mon): short practice

Day 4 (Thurs): two-sword class working on flow patterns

Day 3 (Weds): 45 mins partner work drilling outside and inside line grapples

Week 2: Grappling on Inside Line
Day 1 (Mon): short practice. It’s taken a while, but the difference between attacking on the outside and the inside line has finally clicked!
