Without looking for a previous reference for this shift, I was considering making a smart remark about planning a spot in your schedule for stress, but as I thought about it… we all know stresses will happen, and if one makes a place for it, perhaps that does help constrain (stringere?) the effects of that stress and make one able to “put it away” after that time is used. Now you’re making me think deeper, dangit.

Day 5 was chinese swordsmanship in the morning and the afternoon (2 hours or so) was split between helping equestrians with Fiore plays and the 5 measures, gioco largo and foundational cuts and thrusts forms.
-
Day 4 was restricted to the core forms practice, but a goodly amount of time with them.
-
Need to start a new list of “weapon forms I want to have presentable” for study when I’m “done” with the Longsword Masterclass. I would be tickled to be able to bust out the partisan form at a moment’s notice… sometime in the future.
-
Day 3 was (taxing) Duello Longsword with Devon and studying Gioco Stretto, plus the Gioco Largo and Stretto Modules in the course.
-
Day 2 is done. Academie Duello Rapier Fundamentals continues to challenge me physically and memorizing Gioco Stretto continues to challenge my ability to memorize.
-
Day 1 is in the books, not according to plan, but sufficient and I’m happy with my effort. Duello Sidesword and practice Gioco Stretto defense.

Oh wow, that’s got to be very disappointing. I’m sorry that happened to you. Very frustrating when you’re trying to establish new habits in new spaces. I hope you don’t let it get you down.

Partisan Workshop today. And that means no zero days this week!
-
Day 5: Whooooo. Back to back Duello classes after working with local equestrians and sword and lance work which followed a couple hours of jianfa in the early morning. Hopefully, after a big break I can work on the planned Gioco recordings later.
-
Day 4: Footwork drills (e.g. longsword shadow boxing around the kitchen island) and Gioco Stretto study.
-
Day 3: Duello Longsword (circumstantial private lesson with Devon) & Gioco Largo/Stretto study.
