Self-assessment when performing this skill
Create a self-assessment video to compare to the master above. Perform the following actions in the video, repeated twice:
- Use a volta stabile to maintain control of the outside line when your partner makes a cavatione sotto.
- Use a volta stabile through posta finestra to maintain control of the outside line when your partner makes a cavatione sotto.
- Use a cavatione sotto to maintain control of the outside line when your partner makes a volta stabile and pushes into your sword.
Additionally, perform the following actions, for the opposite line, not shown in the video above:
- Use a volta stabile to maintain control of the inside line when your partner makes a cavatione sotto.
- Use a volta stabile through posta finestra to maintain control of the inside line when your partner makes a cavatione sotto.
- Use a cavatione sotto to maintain control of the inside line when your partner makes a volta stabile and pushes into your sword.
Compare your video to the master video and confirm the following details:
Your swords began crossed in the mezza spada
You made the volta stabile by first moving the tip of the sword across the line, then turning your edge
You moved smoothly from posta longa through to posta finestra on the opposite line
You moved forward only after having maintained the crossing on the new line
You maintained the three advantages after using the cavatione or volta stabile
