The Fighting Line – Practice

Immediate Practice

  • Stand across from a partner (real or imaginary) and move through each of the lines, identifying them outloud: high inside, high outside, low inside, low outside.
  • It is also interesting to have one partner put their sword in their left hand while the other has their sword in their right hand. Now when your sword is crossed in their high inside line, they will be in your high outside line.
  • For solo practice it can be useful to place a stick or sword on a stand projecting toward you. In this way you can practice exercises that involve the four lines.
